The day we have all been waiting for is almost upon us. No, not Christmas. I’m talking about the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18. In order to celebrate its impending release into the galaxy, the Minerva team has dedicated its latest drinking game to the movie that started it all, Star Wars: A New Hope (or if you’re a purist, just Star Wars).

Now, most of these rules could work for any of the movies in the original trilogy, but since we had some people in the audience who hadn’t seen Star Wars in a while (and one who had never seen it at all!), we decided to stick to the first one. If you dare, you could mix and match some of these rules with your own for the prequel trilogy, since Jar Jar Binks can only be tolerated while in a drunken stupor.

If you’d like a Star Wars–themed drink to go along with your viewing, I’d recommend the Qui Gon Gin and Tonic, mostly for the punny name.

The rules are as follows:

Drink when Luke and Leia have an incestuous moment
Drink when someone translates for or responds to nonsense from a droid/Chewbacca
Drink when Luke defends the sanctity of the Force (even though he’s only known about it for a day)
Drink when a lightsaber turns on (zzjaowwww znn znnn)
Drink when no one gets shot while stormtroopers are shooting at them
Drink when explosions make noise in space (if you’re feeling brave)
Drink when “May the Force be with you” is spoken
Drink when you notice badly inserted CGI
Drink any time Luke is a brat
Drink when anyone in the peanut gallery speculates on a robot’s sexuality
Drink when anyone mentions how terrible the prequels are
Drink any time you sort of want to do Han even though you know it’s wrong
Chug your drink while Vader chokes anyone
Drink in honor of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru
Waterfall during the trash compactor scene
Finish your drink when Luke destroys the Death Star

As always, Minerva advocates that you drink responsibly!
